Box Score GUNNISON, Colo.: Regis women's basketball advanced their record to 7-9 overall and a 6-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Friday night. Three Rangers hit double digit points during the effort and that with big senior play led the team to a big 71-48 victory.
Regis outplayed the Mountaineers from the start of the game, kicking off to a 35-25 lead by the end of the first half. They outscored their opponents again 36-23 in the second half to come away with the big 23 point victory.
As a team, the Rangers hit 50.0 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from long distance and 50.0 percent from the free throw line. Regis also out-rebounded WSCU 39-26 throughout the game.
Leading the Rangers with 14 points and five assists was junior Tae'lor Purdy. She hit five from the field, had one from three-point range and went 3-for-4 at the charity stripe on the night.
Senior Kaitie Vader, native of Gunnison, also had a big night. She went 5-for-6 from the field and 2-for-3 from long distance for 12 points. She also pulled down four rebounds and put up one steal in Regis' favor.
Senior Miranda Martine put in 10 points for the Rangers. She pulled down one rebound, assisted on one and caused two turnovers.
Leading Regis with nine rebounds was senior Meghan Hollenga. She also put nine points on the board while fellow senior Kara Larson put up five rebounds and led the Rangers with three steals.
The Rangers continue their road trip to Colorado Mesa where they will take on the Mavericks at 5:30 p.m. Saturday night.
