Box Score DENVER, Colo.: Regis women's basketball won their first game back after the short holiday period, 60-38 over the Mustangs of Western New Mexico University. The win moves the Rangers winning streak to three and their overall record to 5-5 (4-2 RMAC).
The Rangers put in some quick buckets in the first half, going up 34-16 in the first 20 minutes. They outscored the Mustangs 26-22 in the second half to maintain the 22 point lead.
Sophomore Brandi Collins led the Rangers with 19 points on the night. She hit five-of-10 from the field, three-of-five from long distance and six-of-six from the free throw line. The guard put in 14 points in the first half alone after dropping three from long distance.
Senior Sarah Feeney and junior Kellie Deremo pulled down eight rebounds apiece for Regis. Feeney also had 10 points on the night while Deremo put in eight for the Rangers.
As a team, the Rangers outshot the Mustangs from the field, long distance and the charity stripe. Regis hit on 34.5 percent from field goal range, 31.8 from three-point range and 71.4 from the free throw line.
The Rangers will return tomorrow, Saturday, January 5 at 3:00 p.m. to take on the Cowgirls of New Mexico Highlands University.
