Box Score DENVER, Colo.: The Rangers put up a combined effort to earn a 70-60 victory over the Cowgirls of New Mexico Highlands University. The win brings Regis to 6-5 overall and 5-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Regis went on an 8-0 run to start the game before the Cowgirls scored their first point in the third minute of the game. They outscored their opponents 33-28 in the first half and 37-32 in the second to earn the win.
Senior Sarah Feeney and juniors Tae'lor Purdy and Brandi Collins all reached double-digit points on the night.
Purdy led the Rangers with her first double-double of the season. She put up 17 points, while pulling down 10 rebounds during the effort. The forward hit on five-of-11 from the field and seven-of-nine from the charity stripe. She also collected three steals and one assist.
Feeney maintained her high scoring performance, garnering 16 points on the night. She pulled down nine rebounds, and picked up four blocks, one steal and one assist. She hit on five-of-12 from field goal range, one-of-one from long distance, and five-of-seven from the free throw line.
Collins put up 10 points on the day while also leading the Rangers with 10 assists.
Senior Meghan Hollenga also had a big day for the Ranger defense, pulling down nine rebounds, six of which were defensive. She also put up nine points for the Rangers.
Senior Kara Larson scored eight points and pulled down eight rebounds as well.
As a team, the Rangers outshot the Cowgirls with 46.4 percent performance from the field and a 64.0 percent performance from the charity stripe.
The Rangers will play next on the road in Golden, Colo. at Colorado School of Mines. The game will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11.
