Box Score Denver, Colo.: The defense of the Regis University volleyball team prevailed tonight limiting UC-Colorado Springs to just a .009 attack percentage on their way to a straight set victory.
Regis (15-9, 11-4 RMAC) controlled much of the first set before UC-Colorado Springs (10-12, 6-8 RMAC) stormed back late. Regis led 23-18 following an attack error by Laura Loosbrock. UCCS scored the next three points to cut the lead to 23-21. RU Head Coach Frank Lavrisha called a timeout but back-to-back errors by Katie Klein put UCCS to within 23-22. Klein redeemed herself by getting the next two points for Regis and the first set 25-23.
The Rangers took control of the second set midway through and held on late for the 25-21 win. Set three was never in doubt as Regis jumped to a 9-4 lead and then eventuall 19-9 before cruising to the 25-15 win.
Klein had 11 kills, while Caitie Breaux and Maggie Steward each contributed seven kills. Gina Morgan put down six kills, while Lauren Flanagan put down four in just seven attempts with no errors for a .571 attack percentage.
Morgan led all players with six total blocks, including one solo. Jaclyn Williamson had 33 assists, two service aces and six digs. Steward and Sage Martinson led all players with 11 digs, while Rebecca Sponcil and Maya Kirkeby helped out with nine and eight digs respectively.
Regis will take to the road as they travel west a few miles to take on RMAC leaders Colorado Mines on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
