Box Score Denver, Colo.: Following two heart-breaking losses last weekend, the Regis volleyball team returned home for their final regular season matches of the season. RU hosted Chadron State on Friday evening and notched their 16th win of the season with a 3-0 win over the Eagles.
RU (16-11, 12-6 RMAC) is still fighting for a fourth place finish in the RMAC regular season which would allow them to host a first round RMAC Tournament game on Tuesday. Regis took each set by identical 25-19 scores.
Regis took control of each of the first two sets from Chadron State (6-22, 3-15 RMAC) and cruised to wins. The third set was a little tougher. The Eagles led most of the way in set three including a 15-11 lead. The Rangers scratched their way back into the game by getting kills from their point scorers in sophomores Katie Klein and Caitie Breaux all the while having the defense step up by forcing the Eagles into attack errors.
Regis took the lead at 17-16 and never looked back in the 25-19 win.
The Rangers limited CSC to a .044 attack percentage while hitting .248 themselves. RU had 11 total blocks including five each from Breaux and senior Lauren Flanagan.
Klein put down a match-best 12 kills, while Breaux wasn't far behind with 10. Gina Morgan had six kills and added four total blocks, while Maggie Steward supplied five kills.
Jaclyn Williamson had 34 assists and led the team with 10 digs. Sage Martinson was right behind with nine digs, while Steward had six.
Regis will finish out their regular season with a 5:00 p.m match against Black Hills State on Saturday afternoon.
