Box Score DENTON, Texas: Regis women's basketball (0-2) picked up their second straight loss tonight down at the 2013 Marriott Champions Circle Pioneer Premiere. Game two featured the Rangers against Tarleton State, with the latter picking up a 90-60 victory over Regis.
Tarleton picked up the early lead after finishing the first half with a 17-point lead over Regis, finishing with the 48-31 advantage over the Rangers. They outscored RU again in the second; picking up 42 points over the Rangers 29 in the second half.
Senior Tae'lor Purdy led the team with 19 points, while picking up six rebounds as well. She hit 7-16 from the field including a perfect 3-3 performance from long distance and 2-2 from the charity stripe.
Sophomore Bay'lee Purdy put up 14 points for the Rangers as well after hitting 5-14 from the field, with a 2-9 performance from 3-point range and 2-2 from the free throw line.
The Rangers hit 32.3 from the field and 27.3 from 3-point range while managing a 57.1 shooting percentage from the charity stripe.
Tae'lor Purdy was named to the All-Tournament team after her performance in the two games. Over the weekend, she was good for 18.5 points per game after putting in 18 on the first night and 19 on the second. She also pulled down 10.5 rebounds per game after grabbing 15 against Texas Woman's and six against Tarleton State. She maintained a 44.8 percentage from the field, a 66.7 percentage from long distance and 43.8 from the charity stripe.
Next, Regis will travel to Golden, Colo. to compete in the Mines Thanksgiving Classic on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29 and 30. On Friday, the Rangers will take on Cameron at 3:00 p.m. and on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., Regis will take on Trevecca Nazarene.
