DENVER, Colo.:  Regis softball finished out the RMAC Preseason Tournament with a 6-3 loss to Metro State today. 

Sophomores Taylor Wilcox and Rachel Illias had two hits apiece, including a double for Wilcox and a triple by Illias.

The Rangers put one on the board in the first inning to grab an early lead. 

Sophomore Brianna Bodgajewicz sent a single to left field and advanced to third on a fielding error.  The freshman outfielder scored on a sacrifice fly by senior Shannon Massine that went deep center field.

Metro State put four in during the next inning to go up 4-1 over the Rangers.

In the bottom of the third, the Rangers crossed two more over home to make the score 4-3.  Freshman Ashley Prescott was walked to start off the offense.  She moved around the bases and was brought in on a big triple down the right field line by Illias.  Illias scored as well on a single through the left side by Wilcox.

Regis would not score again by the end of the seventh, but the RoadRunners scored one in the fourth and seventh to make the final score 6-3 on the day.

Hull (0-3), a right-hander for the Rangers, will get the loss after pitching 6.1 innings.  She struck out four and allowed six hits.

The loss brings the Rangers to 0-5 to start the 2013 season.  Next week, they will hit the road and travel to Phoenix, Ariz. where they will play in the NFCA Division II Leadoff Classic hosted by Grand Canyon University.

Their first game of the tournament is Friday, February 15 at 10:00 a.m.  Regis will take on Texas Wesleyan before moving to University of New Haven at 2:00 p.m.
