Rangers Play Big at Home; Defeat Orediggers 59-48

Box Score

DENVER, Colo.:  Junior Tae'lor Purdy led the Rangers to a big 59-48 victory over the Orediggers of Colorado School of Mines Saturday night with her fourth double-double of the season.

Purdy was good for 26 points on the night while also pulling down 10 rebounds for the Rangers.  She was a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range and 7-for-7 from the charity stripe.

The Rangers grabbed an early lead going up 31-23 before half time.

It was a slow start for both sides, until the Rangers broke away and built a winning gap.  Mines scored first and went up 5-0 before Regis put a field goal in.  Once senior Sarah Feeney's first three of the night found the basket, it was all over for the Orediggers.

Purdy put in another three-point shot after that to go up 6-5 and the Rangers built an outstanding 16-5 lead to start the game within the first five minutes.

They outscored the Orediggers again 28-25 in the second to secure the big RMAC win.

Regis also took advantage of Mines' ball control, putting in 24 points off turnovers, including 14 points in the first half alone.

Seniors Sarah Feeney and Meghan Hollenga each had nine points apiece.  Feeney grabbed five rebounds and had two from long distance while Hollenga had four rebounds and two steals throughout the night.

The Rangers used the paint to their advantage, outscoring Mines 18-8 in the paint during the game.

Regis will stay at home for next week's game where the Rangers will take on the RoadRunners of Metro State during Legacy Weekend.
