Box Score 2 LAKEWOOD, Colo.: Regis softball split the first round of double headers with Colorado Christian University today at the Cougar home field.
A big performance by freshman Nicole Hull in the circle and a clutch two-RBI double by sophomore Rachel Illias gave RU the 2-0 advantage in the first game, but the CCU offense capitalized in the second seven-inning contest, allowing for an 8-0 Cougar victory.
Both teams remained scoreless into the fifth inning until Ranger Illias doubled to left field to bring around junior Keala Bertulfo and freshman Ashley Prescott.
Berftulfo had reached earlier on a single to left field and Prescott was pinch running for senior Micheala Carbonneau who legged out a single to the shortstop.
Hull struck out four while allowing only four hits in a complete seven innings. Sophomore Taylor Wilcox went 2-for-3, while senior Bre Backlund, sophomore Brianna Bogdajewicz, Illias, Bertulfo and Carbonneau each had a hit.
In the second game, Colorado Christian put four runs on in the first inning to start things off, followed by three runs in the second and one in the fourth to top off an 8-0 five-inning victory.
Regis had four hits in the game, putting up a big effort in the second, third and fourth innings with no runs to show.
