Box Score 2 Denver, Colo.: Regis and Metro State were locked in a pitcher's dual early but the Metro State offense came through when it mattered including the walk-off homerun in the 11th to win 7-5.
Regis (14-5, 9-4 RMAC) was no-hit by Metro State (9-13, 5-8 RMAC) starter Patrick Gojan until the fifth inning when Steven Brault led off the inning with a double. Nick Billinger drove in two of the four runs the Rangers scored in the fifth on a double of his own.
Gojan battled Regis' ace Aaron Harms with both starters going nine innings with Harms allowing four earned runs and striking out five. Metro state took the first lead scoring one run in the fourth inning and then were shutdown till the scored two in the eighth.
Metro State had a chance to win in it in the ninth when they loaded the bases with one out. Alex Schrupp hit a fly ball to right field to score the tying run before Harms got Zac Baldini to foul out, but Baldini would come through for the Roadrunners.
Neither team scored in the 10th before Tony Schicktanz singled down the right field line to score Brault from second in the 11th inning. The Rangers hurt themselves with a pickoff and a strikeout to end the 11th.
Erik Cammall started the 11th with a single and was sacrificed over to second base. Jacob Nelson was intentionally walked to set up the double play. Schrupp struck out but then Baldini stepped up and hit a three-run homerun to left field to complete the comeback.
Jake Long suffered the loss and drops to 0-1, while Carlos Luzon earns his first victory of the season. Metro State out-hit the Rangers 15-8 but Regis was helped by two Roadrunner errors.
Tony Piazza was the only player for Regis with more than one hit as he went 2-for-5. Billinger drove in two runs, while Brault crossed the plate twice.
The two teams will play two more tomorrow and a single nine-inning game on Saturday.
