Box Score 2 LAKEWOOD, Colo.: Regis University softball (6-23, 5-13) dropped two (0-3, 1-6) in a doubleheader against Colorado Christian University today, finishing the series 1-3 overall.
CCU jumped early in the first game, crossing one run in the first. The Cougars put two more on the board in the sixth to complete the 3-0 win.
Freshman Nicole Hull completed six innings in the circle, allowing seven hits and sitting down three.
Freshman Rachelle Knudson and sophomore Sydney Gaffin split work on the mound in the second game, each slinging three innings apiece. Knudson allowed five hits and four runs, while Gaffin struck out one and allowed three hits.
CCU scored first again in the second game, crossing four runs on three hits in the third inning. They scored another in the fourth to go up 5-0 over the Rangers.
Regis had a rally in the fifth, starting off a bunt single by sophomore Brianna Bogdajewicz. She was followed by a single to left field by sophomore Rachel Illias and senior Bre Backlund walking to first to load the bases. Hull walked to bring around the run before the Cougars closed out the inning.
Game two finished 1-6 to CCUs advantage.
Bogdajewicz put in a 3-for-5 performance at the plate with one run while junior Shelby Wieman went 3-for-6. Seniors Shannon Massine and Micheala Carbonneau, Backlund and Illias all had a hit on the day.
Regis will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. to take on the Mountain Lions of UC-Colorado Springs on Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7. Doubleheaders on Saturday begin at noon, and on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
