Box Score 2 Grand Junction, Colo.: A big sixth inning by #4 Colorado Mesa turned a close game into a blow-out as Regis falls in a pivotal matchup 15-5.
#4 Colorado Mesa (35-6, 29-2) scored one in each of the first three innings with Regis (22-13, 17-12 RMAC) responded by scoring one run in each of the third and fourth innings. Regis took their first lead of the game in the sixth inning when Bob Terry hit a homerun to left center to give Regis a 4-3 lead.
Regis starter Aaron Harms was on cruise control until the dreadful sixth came. Harms gave up five hits in the sixth alone including a three-run homerun. CMU scored seven runs in the sixth to open up the game 10-4 and tacked on five more in the eighth to make the final 15-5.
Cody Hastings went 3-for-4 at the plate with one RBI. Tony Piazza and John Tosches each went 2-for-4 with each driving in one run. Terry led the Rangers with two RBIs blasting his fourth homerun of the season.
The Colorado Mesa pitchers struckout the Ranger batters 10 times, which is the most strikeouts for Regis this season.
The same two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow with first game beginning at 1:00 p.m.
