Box Score 2 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.: Regis softball dropped the day at UC-Colorado Springs, going 1-3 in the series over the weekend.
The Rangers scored first in the second inning, before allowing the Mountain Lions seven runs throughout seven innings, giving the Rangers a 7-1 loss.
Senior Alyssa Beskid went 1-for-1 with one RBI at the plate. Senior Bre Backlund, juniors Keala Bertulfo and Sam Talmich and sophomore Taylor Wilcox each had a hit in the game.
Freshman Nicole Hull (4-10) received the loss after slinging 3.2 innings, allowing four hits and six runs, three of which were earned during her performance. She also struck out two in 23 batters faced. Fellow right-handed freshman Rachelle Knudson closed out the game, allowing two hits and one earned run, while striking out one in 10 batters.
Regis went up again early in the first game, crossing one in the first inning before allowing nine runs throughout five innings of work for the 9-1 loss.
Sophomore Sydney Gaffin (3-13) worked for two innings, allowed nine hits and six runs while striking out two UCCS batters. Hull finished up the following two innings of play, allowing five hits and three runs (two earned), while striking out two in 11 batters.
Bertulfo had a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate, with one RBI and a double to her name. Senior Shannon Massine, Backlund and junior Shelby Wieman each had one hit in the game.
Regis (7-26, 6-16 RMAC) will return home next weekend to take on Chadron State on Saturday and Sunday, April 13 and 14. The doubleheaders will begin at noon and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Regis Athletics will be hosting a block party during Sunday's games while RU Baseball plays across the way. Food, drinks and fun will be available.
