Second Half Surge Puts Rangers Under in 92-74 Loss to Cougars

Box Score

DENVER, Colo.:  It was looking like a Ranger ballgame after the first half of play in the Regis Fieldhouse with the home team leading the game 42-31 going into the second half.

RU put a three down in the first possession of play in the second half to extend their lead to 14, but that ended their momentum for the rest of the game.

The opposition outscored Regis 61-32 in the second half alone with a huge 30-12 run in the last 9:50 of the game.

CCU scored 42 of their points from the paint and 17 alone on fast break opportunities.

For the Rangers, sophomore Bay'lee Purdy had a huge night on the offensive after snagging 27 points off seven made 3-pointers, a 2-2 opportunity from the charity stripe and nine made from the field.

Both seniors, Tae'lor Purdy and Brandi Collins had an eventful night as well after hitting 17 points apiece.

Collins added a team-high six assists and four steals to her stats and was good for three from long distance.

The elder Purdy knocked down three as well from 3-point range, along with five from the field on the night.

As a team, Regis was good for 40.9 percent from the field, 43.8 percent from long range and 46.2 percent from the stripe.

Next weekend, Regis will travel to Durango, Colo. to take on Fort Lewis College before traveling over to Alamosa, Colorado to take on Adams State College.  The RU v. FLC game will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, January 17 and the RU v. ASU game will start at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18.
