SILVER CITY, N.M.:  Regis women's basketball went in tied at the half against the Mustangs of Western New Mexico, but after fighting tooth and nail in the second came out on the bottom of a 65-63 outcome.

With the score tied 30-30 after the first half, both teams came out of the locker room looking to make an impact.  

The Mustangs went on the first run, snagging the lead first but the Rangers were not far behind.  Regis fought back and used their momentum to grab a small lead for themselves, owning a 58-52 lead before WNMU started fighting back.  

With 1:44 left on the clock the opposition tied it up and with 49 seconds left, Regis tied it again 61-61.  It was give and go for a few precious seconds with the score standing 63-63 with nine seconds left to play.  With two big seconds left to play, Western made a short jumper to give them the two-point edge and the victory on the night.

Senior Tae'lor Purdy led the Rangers with 27 points and nine rebounds.  She hit nine from the field including two from long distance and went 7-11 from the free throw line.  

Junior Erica Von Stein and sophomore Bay'lee Purdy had 11 and 10 points respectively, while both had fourr assists.  Von Stein picked up five steals on the night while the younger Purdy had six rebounds.

Also snagging up nine and seven rebounds respectively were freshman Kaycee Hert and senior Brandi Collins.

The Rangers now travel to Las Vegas, N.M. to take on the Cowgirls of New Mexico Highlands University at 6:00 p.m.
