Box Score Spearfish, South Dakota: The Regis Ranger volleyball team extends their win-streak to seven matches in a row after closing out a weekend on the road defeating the Black Hills University Yellowjackets (6-11, 4-4 RMAC) in four sets. The Rangers move to a 12-4 overall record and 7-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
RU dominated taking the first set 25-8 but dropped a close second set 25-21. The ladies regrouped and took sets three 25-15 and the final set 25-20 to end the night. Regis forced 19 errors on the match and won the battle at the net completing 56 kills to the Yellowjackets 43 to finish with a .273 attack percentage.
Maya Kirkeby led the defense with 23 digs. Teammates Maggie Steward (18), Caitie Breaux (12), and Alessandra Orlandini (10) also reached double figure digs but it was Gina Morgan that led the offensive efforts with a match-leading 16 kills in 25 total attack attempts for a attack percentage of .600. Breaux added 15 kills of her own and five aces. Mary Schroeder also reached double digit kills with 11 in the Ranger win. Rebecca Sponcil had 45 assists and eight digs.
Regis is back on the road Tuesday, October 7 at 7 p.m. traveling to UC-Colorado Springs.
