Box Score Colorado Springs, Colorado - Senior Gina Morgan and junior Caitie Breaux were both honored on the First Team All-RMAC as voted on by the 14 RMAC head coaches. Senior Maya Kirkeby and junior Rebecca Sponcil were each honored on second team.
A Colorado Springs native, Morgan earns her first All-RMAC First Team honor after earning the RMAC Academic Player of the Year in 2014. Morgan ranks sixth in the RMAC with a .331 attack percentage and ranks fourth for Regis with 2.76 kills per set. Morgan also leads the Rangers with a 0.80 block per set average, which is 17th in the RMAC.
Breaux currently ranks second in the RMAC with a 3.92 kill per set average. Breaux was also First Team All-RMAC following her freshman year and is the first to be awarded first team more than once since Holly Yamada did so in 2003 and 2004. She is tied for the RMAC lead with a 0.36 service ace per set average and is one of the top defenders for the Rangers in the back row averaging 2.93 digs per set, second for RU.
The Preseason RMAC Defensive Player of the Year Maya Kirkeby earned a second team nod. The Aiea, Hawaii native currently ranks second in the RMAC with a 5.18 dig per set average and at that current pace would be a new Regis record, beating the previous mark of 4.63. She earned a RMAC Defensive Player of the Week award on September 22. Kirkeby also owns a .971 reception percentage this season and is second on the team with 78 assists.
Rebecca Sponcil earned second team honors in her first season as the full-time setter. Sponcil, from Phoenix, Arizona, ranks third in the RMAC with a 11.35 assist per set average. She has twice earned RMAC Setter of the Week and is fourth for Regis in digs at 2.70 per set. Sponcil has 10 double-doubles this season.
The Rangers will begin the postseason on Tuesday night as they host CSU-Pueblo at 7 p.m. at teh Regis Fieldhouse.
