Ranger Turnovers Spells Doom in 88-63 Loss to Chaminade

Box Score

Honolulu, Hawaii - The Regis University men's basketball team began their 2014-15 season in Hawaii on Friday night in Head Coach Lonnie Porter's 38th and final season.  The Rangers started slowly and allowed Chaminade to open a 17-5 lead and sunk the Rangers 88-63.

Regis (0-1) cut the lead to seven with 9:11 left in the first half with a three pointer by Brett Hartshorne, who led the way with 18 points.  Chaminade (1-0) then went on a 10-2 rally to lead 33-18 just three minutes later.  RU did cut the lead to 10 just minutes into the second half but the Silverswords were able to hit five more threes than the Rangers and came out victorious 88-63.

Chaminade forced the Rangers into 21 turnovers to just 10 for the home team which accounted for the 14 additional shots Chaminade was able to take.

Hartshorne went 6-for-7 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the charity striple while pulling down seven boards.  Roberto Reyes came off the bench to supply 11 points, with Dylan King putting in seven.  Dexter Sienko led all players with 10 boards off the bench.

RU will play Hawaii Pacific on Saturday before heading home to play Johnson & Wales on Wednesday night.
