Denver, Colorado - In perhaps Regis Head Coach Lonnie Porter's final contest at Auraria Events Center, #9 Metro State proved too much for the Rangers in an 82-52 decision on Saturday night.
A Brett Hartshorne layup closed the score to within 12-8 just five minutes in before the ninth-ranked Roadrunners (6-1, 1-0 RMAC) went on a 14-4 run to take a commanding 26-12 lead just five minutes later. Regis (2-3, 0-1 RMAC) only got as close as nine the rest of the way.
Metro State had 18 more shots than the Rangers and out-rebounded RU 36-28. The turnover battle was won by MSUD as they only had six to 18 for Regis.
Hartshorne paced the Rangers with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while Bryan Siefker supplied 10 points. Spenser Reeb came off the bench to put in eight points with Dexter Sienko and Kevin Marshall each put in seven points. Sienko and Miika Luosmaa led the Rangers with five boards apiece.
Regis will go on the road tomorrow as they head to Laramie, Wyoming to take on NCAA Division I Wyoming.
