Box Score Denver, Colo.: The Regis Ranger men's team couldn't stop the inside game of Adams State as the Rangers fell 77-55 to the Grizzlies. The Rangers have just three regular season games left including tomorrow night's final home game for six seniors.
Regis (7-17, 4-15 RMAC) got a gift to begin the game as Julian Scott of Adams State was charged with a technical for dunking during warmups. Jarrett Green calmly sank both to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead before tipoff. Green made two more free throws in the Rangers first possession and finished the night 7-for-7 at the stripe.
Adams State (15-8, 11-8 RMAC) scored six in a row to take a short-live lead before two free throws by Kevin Marshall. The Rangers trailed 10-6 and with over five minutes elapsed in the first half finally made their first field goal of the game, a three-point bomb by Jarrett Green to cut the lead to 10-9. Jon Conley made a layup with 11:36 left to cut the Grizzly lead to 18-17, but the Grizzlies quickly ran off 13 straight to take a 31-17 lead with 8:21 left in the first half.
Almost five more minutes went by before the Rangers registered a field goal, with another Jarrett Green three pointer with 6:56 left in the first stanza. ASU led by as many as 13 in the first half including the halftime score of 39-26.
The Rangers couldn't get any closer than 11 the rest of the way and fell to Adams State 77-55.
Jarrett Green led the Rangers with 15 points, while Conley came off the bench to register 11. Kevin Marshall and Bryan Siefker, who also came off the bench, both chipped in with seven. Mike MacKelvie led the rebounding for RU with seven boards but the Rangers were outmatched up front being outrebounded 39-22 including allowing 16 offensive rebounds.
Regis will host Fort Lewis, who got beat 103-72 to Metro State tonight, on Saturday night for senior night activities.
