Box Score Colorado Springs, Colo.: A venue change didn't affect the Ranger women's lacrosse offense as they pounded Vassar College 19-8 in non-conference action.
Regis (2-2) scored two goals in the first 1:14 which prompted Vassar to call a timeout. Danica Cutshall got the scoring going just 35 second in before Hilary Duda put in one of her four goals on the day. The timeout worked, if only momentarily, as Vassar (0-1) got a goal from Dara Davis with 27:22 left in the first half.
The Rangers responded by scoring three in a row, the last coming from Erin Todd, who led the Rangers with five goals. The Rangers continued the scoring onslaught and led at the break 11-3.
Vassar came out of the break and gave the Rangers a scare by scoring the first five goals to pull within 11-8. Regis Head Coach Sarah Kellner then called a timeout to relax the team, and that is exactly what happened when Anna Takushi and Hilary Duda each scored two goals in a nine-minute span to take a 15-8 lead and scored four more to win 19-8.
The Ranger defense held Vassar to no goals over the final 23:17 of the game. Regis out-shot Vassar 31-25, while securing 27 ground balls to 18 for Vassar.
Regis' goalkeeper Gianna Lombardi had a great game in goal making 13 saves, the second most saves in her career. Cutshall led the way with three assists and three draw controls. Duda and Shannon Bryant were next with two assists apiece.
Lombardi gathered in seven ground balls, while Sierra Perrella grabbed five and caused four turnovers, just one behind Tierra Romero's five caused turnovers.
Regis will host Mercy tomorrow, March 13th on the RU campus at 4:00 p.m.
