First Inning Proves Doom for Rangers in Second Game

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Denver, Colo.: Metro State scored five runs in the first inning and pitcher Kevin Hand silenced the Ranger offense as the Roadrunners took game three in the series 6-2.

Hand and Ranger pitcher Nick DiPaola both went the distance in the hour and 27 minute affair.  DiPaola scattered seven hits and allowed just three earned runs as the Rangers were hurt by three errors.

Regis (11-13, 8-9 RMAC) scratched out a run in the third and another in the seventh but it wasn't enough.  Dylan Navarro nearly hit for the cycle as he went 4-for-4 at the plate with two singles, a double and a triple.  Despite going 0-for-3, Justin Hawkins drove in both runs.  He had a sacrifice fly in the third and drove in John Mulhern in the seventh on a groundout.

Tony Schicktanz had another good game at the plate going 2-for-3 and was 5-for-6 in both game.  Navarro went 6-for-8 in the Saturday doubleheader.

The two teams will finish out the series on Sunday with first pitch set for 12:00 p.m.
