LAKEWOOD, Colo.:  Regis took a pair of hard losses against Colorado Christian today, dropping the doubleheader to start the weekend road series.  Regis outhit Christian in game one 4-2, but the Cougars capitalized at the right moments, scoring a run to win the game 1-0.  CCU then took the second game 9-1 in six innings to put RU under.

In game one, junior Britney Lee had quite a presence on the mound, allowing only two hits and one earned run while striking out five and walking none during her six innings of work.

Contributing to the Ranger offensive was senior Keala Bertulfo, sophomore Ashley Prescott and freshmen Carlie Sexton and Alyssa Finger who all had one hit in the game.

Colorado Christian came out strong in game two to continue their winning ways. 

Regis struck first with run in the top of the first inning.  Junior Rachel Illias started the effort with a single to right field and moved around to third on a groundout and then a single to left field by Sexton.  Junior Taylor Wilcox then sent a fielder's choice ball towards the infield to score Illias and put Regis up by one.

CCU answered in the bottom of the frame with three runs of their own and continued adding runs with one in the fourth and fifth and four in the sixth to shut the game down early.  CCU outhit RU in the second game 12-5 to finish the day with two wins.

Sexton, Finger and sophomore Nicole Hull each had a hit while Illias went 2-3 in the game.

Hull started the game in the circle, pitching 3.2 innings while allowing five hits and four runs and striking out two before junior Sydney Gaffin took over the reins.  In 1.2 innings, Gaffin allowed five runs and seven hits.

Regis and Colorado Christian will finish their faceoff on Saturday, April 19 with a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. in Lakewood, Colo.
