Box Score Las Vegas, N.M.: The Rangers were looking to scratch out one in the four-game series with New Mexico Highlands on Sunday. The Rangers out-hit the Cowboys 16-12 but two bad innings for the Rangers gave the Cowboys the sweep 10-7.
Regis (12-17, 9-13 RMAC) scored three in the second on six hits and led 3-1 heading into the fourth when New Mexico Highlands (18-15, 15-8 RMAC) scored four and then tacked on five more in the fifth to take a commanding 10-4 lead.
RU picked one up in the seventh and then got a two-run homerun from Dylan Navarro in the eighth but the Rangers went down in order in the ninth.
Navarro, Tony Schicktanz and Ty Overboe each went 3-for-5 at the plate with Navarro driving in a team-high three runs.
The Rangers will stay on the road as they travel to take on Adams State starting on Friday.
