Box Score

Stats

Denver, Colorado - The Regis offense clicked tonight as they hit .320 in a 3-0 sweep of CSU-Pueblo tonight in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference volleyball action.

"We had good ball control tonight and were able to space out the attacks between our outsides and middles," comments Head Coach Frank Lavrisha.  "CSU-Pueblo is an athletic team that will be able to do some damage in the RMAC this year."

RU (8-4, 3-1 RMAC) started out the first set hitting .448 getting 16 kills on 29 attempts and just three errors.  The two teams were tied early at 9-9 following a kill by Maggie Steward.  The Rangers then started clicking offensively and scored four in a row and then slowly started pulling away and ended up winning 25-17.

CSU-Pueblo (7-6, 1-3 RMAC) came out a fire in set two and led for much of the set and led 15-11 after a kill by Oni Lattin.  Lavrisha called a timeout and his team responded by scoring four points in a row to force the Thunderwolves into a timeout.  Gina Morgan came out of the timeout and put down another kill, three during the 5-0 run to put RU ahead 16-15.  The two teams batttled back and forth before RU went on another 5-0 run after the scored was tied at 18 and sided out to win 25-21.

The Rangers then stepped on the throttle in set three and led 7-2, 11-3, 13-14 and 19-7 before closing out the set 25-12.

Morgan and Steward led the way with 11 kills apiece.  Samantha Mangseth had eight kills, no errors in 10 attempts for a .800 attack percentage.  Mary Schroeder and Caitie Breaux each collected seven kills.

Rebecca Sponcil again had a fabulous game as the quarterback dishing out 40 assists and getting three digs.  Maya Kirkeby led the way again with 11 digs, while Breaux and Alessandra Orlandini chipped in with eight each.

The Rangers will take on Adams State on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. at the Regis Fieldhouse.
