Box Score DENVER, Colo.- The Regis University men's basketball team (3-5, 1-1 RMAC) returned to action Friday night and dominated the South Dakota Mines Hardrockers (3-3, 1-1 RMAC) behind a historic performance from freshman Jarrett Brodbeck earning their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) victory of the season.
Brodbeck's historic night started as he connected on his first three attempts from beyond the arc. The freshman poured in 20 points in the first half, shooting 7-13 from the field and knocking down five three-pointers. At halftime the Regis held a commanding 51-36 lead.
Coming out of halftime, the Rangers seemed content with their offensive efforts and did not change much, running the fast-break when it presented itself and patiently waited for their offense to open up shots. RU opened up the second half on a 17-3 run that was capped off by two free throws from Brodbeck.
Another huge run from Regis saw their lead balloon to 39 as a layup from sophomore Roberto Reyes put the Rangers up 100-61. Minutes later, senior Kevin Marshall knocked down a pair of free throws giving RU their biggest lead of the night 110-70 with only 52 seconds remaining in the game. The Hardrockers would get the final basket of the night as Regis took the victory 110-72 over SDSM&T at home.
Every player that touched the court in the second half for the Rangers scored points. Junior Noah King dished out six assists in the second half giving him 12 assists on the night, ranking him second all-time in RU history for most assists in a single game.
As a team, Regis scored the fourth most points in school history, and set a new single game record for three-pointers made in a game with 20 breaking the mark previously held in 1999.
Brodbeck also etched his name in the Regis record books as he tied the single game record for most made three-point shots with 10, breaking the record previously held in 2002. His 10 made three-pointers also ranks third in the history of the RMAC. The freshman tied the Ranger record for third most points in a single game with the 41 points he dropped tonight, which is the most points scored in a single game this year in the RMAC.
Brodbeck finished the night going 12-22 from the field, knocking down 10 three-pointers, and also hitting 7-8 shots from the charity stripe. Senior Dylan King contributed 17 points in the effort while sophomore Dexter Sienko scored 14 points and collected a team-high seven rebounds.
