FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Regis University men's basketball team (3-8, 1-4 RMAC) wrapped-up their non-conference schedule with a visit to Division I opponent Colorado State University (7-5, 0-0 MW). Regis fell to CSU 77-53.
The Rangers got off to a good start with an alley-oop from junior Noah King to sophomore Dexter Sienko who slammed home the first basket of the game for RU. Regis struggled on the defensive end against a much bigger and more experienced Rams team that took a 39-18 lead into halftime.
Senior Billy Hansen connected on a three-pointer on RU's first shot attempt of the second half. CSU answered Hansen's bucket with two three-pointers of their own before freshman Ryan Beisty drilled another shot from beyond the arc for Regis.
In a very tough test on the road against a strong Division I opponent, three Rangers scored in double digits including Beisty, who led all RU scorers with 12, Sienko, who chipped in 10 of his own, and Noah King who also tallied 10 points. Beisty also collected a team-high seven rebounds in the effort while Noah King dished out a team-high four assists. As a team RU shot 33.3 percent from the field. Regis forced 10 Rams turnover, but had 14 turnovers of their own.
The men's basketball team will return to action this weekend as they host Colorado State University-Pueblo this Saturday, January 2 at 5 p.m. followed by a contest against Western State Colorado University on Sunday, January 3 at 3 p.m.
