Box Score Winter Park, Florida- The No. 13 Regis Women's Lacrosse team knew this week was going to be quite grueling with three ranked opponents slated for their Florida trip. Today, the Rangers (1-1) faced their first test of adversity this season in a loss to No. 18 Rollins (4-1), 17-11. What was possibly the biggest difference between these two teams, besides the final score, was the amount of game action each team has seen so far this year.
With four games experience already under their belt, Rollins was able to get into their offensive rhythm quickly. Rollins put three in the back of the net before ten minutes passed; Regis' sophomore midfielder Erin Steiner had the team's lone score in that time at the 22:50 mark. Steiner would score again at 18:48 to bring to score to 2-3.
Rollins went on to score five more and Regis only notched three to make the score 8-5 at the break.
The second half started just as the first. Rollins scored three in the first eleven minutes to only Regis' one. All throughout the second half the Rangers did their best to at least even things up with Rollins. Regis even scored three in a row in a three minutes span to cu into the Rollins lead. Senior midfielder Emily Behr scored the first of those three with 5:35 remaining in the game. Sophomore midfielder Anna Takushi netted the next two giving Rollins just a 14-11 advantage with 2:47 to go.
Rollins kept their distance and finished the game with three straight goals of their own earning themselves the 17-11 win.
Behr led the Rangers in goals scoring three. Both Steiner and senior attacker Erin Todd contributed two goals. Senior goalkeeper Gianna Lombardi was handed her first loss of the season.
The Rangers will next take on No.9 Florida Southern on Tuesday. The draw is set for 12 pm.
