No. 12 Rangers Struggle Offensively, Fall Against Grand Valley State

Box Score

Allendale, Michigan – In heavy wind and rain conditions less than ideal, the No. 12 ranked Regis University Ranger women's lacrosse team had no answer to a strong Grand Valley State offense falling on the road 19-8.

The Lakers (10-4, 4-0 GLIAC) netted the first goal seconds after the opening draw and never looked back.  Regis matched the opening Grand Valley goal with one from sophomore Erin Steiner (Chicago, Illinois) but that would be the last time the score would tie.

The Rangers could not seem to gain any sort of offensive momentum.  Each time RU would tally one to the scoreboard the Lakers would respond.  The halftime score was 9-5 with Grand Valley punching one into the back of the net seconds before the horn.

Grand Valley continued pressing the issue in the second half immediately scoring three goals.  The Regis struggle continued throughout; Steiner and junior Melissa Hastie (Los Alamitos, California) led RU offensively each netting two goals apiece.

The Rangers were outshot 31-25 and the Lakers connected on 19 of their 27 shots on goal attempts.  Freshman goalkeeper Kenley Harrington (Fullerton, California) played in all 60 minutes of action tallying eight saves and recording her first loss of the year moving to an overall record of 4-1.

RU is back on the road to Fort Lewis on Friday, April 17 at 4 p.m. in the final conference match of the regular season.
