Denver, Colorado- The Regis Baseball team took down another ranked opponent today splitting today's double-header against No. 13 CSU-Pueblo. The Thunderwolves took game one with a 9-1 decision and Regis edged out CSU-Pueblo in the second game by a score of 6-2.

In the first, CSU-Pueblo took the early lead in the top of the first inning scoring one and Regis could not answer leaving one on base in the bottom half. After a scoreless inning from both sides in the second, the Rangers were able to level out the scoreboard in the third. After junior second baseman Drew LaComb reached second sending the Thunderwolves offering down the left field line, freshman center fielder John Flint drove in LaComb with a single through the left side.

In the top of the fourth, the Thunderwolves took back the lead scoring twice. Then in the top of the sixth, CSU-Pueblo did even more damage with five runs taking a commanding seven run lead. The Rangers could not manage any more runs for the remainder of the game leaving a total of seven runners on base beginning in the fourth inning.

The Thunderwolves would score once more in the top of the ninth for the nine run game total. CSU-Pueblo's Zach Wittmus earned the win working six innings and allowing just one run. Sophomore starter Brad Thoutt was dealt the loss for his third of the season working five and one third innings giving up six runs on six hits.

The second game started much differently with Regis being first to put up runs on the board. Senior DH Ty Overboe would later score the third run as freshman right fielder Connor Rochon singled up the middle of the field.

The rest of the Ranger damage would come in the next two innings. Junior left fielder Weston Byers would cross home plate in the second inning with the help of Flint's fly out to center field. In the top of the third, CSU-Pueblo cut into Regis' lead with a couple of runs, but the Rangers hit right back with two more of their own. Overboe would score his second run of the game thanks to a Rochon single, shortly after Knox would score his first of the game.

Freshman starter Matt Heibult earned the winning decision for his sixth of the season. Heibult worked six innings allowing just two runs on six hits and struckout five. Overboe and LaComb led the team with two total runs for the day. Overboe hit 2-5, while LaComb hit 1-6.
