Box Score Denver, Colorado – Advancing to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Championship is the Regis University Ranger Softball team. The Rangers produced another solid performance both offensive and defensive to defeat the Adams State Grizzlies 6-1 in the RMAC Semifinal game.
Juniors Nicole Hull (Westminster, Colorado) and Nicole Aviles (Phoenix, Arizona) are a force to be reckoned with on the mound. Hull started the game to earn the win and move to an overall record of 11-9; she tallied four strikeouts and allowed just two hits for one run. Aviles came in to pitch the final two innings earning the save, recording two strikeouts, and allowing no hits.
On two hits in the bottom of the second with the help from an Adams State error, the Rangers brought two across to gain control of the lead. Sophomore Bradey King (Loveland, Colorado) singled up the middle to score freshman Emily John (Beaverton, Oregon) and Brianna Bogdajewicz (Streamwood, Illinois).
The Grizzlies brought the score to 2-1 in the top of the fifth but Regis put the game away in the bottom of the sixth on three hits and one error. The Rangers loaded the bases for the third time in the bottom of the sixth. John started the scoring off by placing a ball just in front of the pitcher, beat the throw to first, and scored the runner on third. King recorded her third RBI of the game reaching on by a walk. Sophomore Carlie Sexton (Littleton, Colorado) hit two home by singling to right field to seal the victory and send the Rangers to the RMAC Championship, the first time since 2011.
The Rangers will take on the winner of Metro State and Adams State in the Championship game at MSU Denver on Saturday, May 2 at 1:15 p.m.
