Box Score DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University men's soccer team lost their first conference game of the season to Fort Lewis College Friday night. The loss brings the Rangers to a 1-2 record on the season.
In the early minutes of the game the RU defense was challenged by many of the Fort Lewis attackers. Senior Zac Lawrence took a quick pass from Yannis Becker on a free kick that trickled behind the defense, allowing him to put the ball in the back of the net for the first goal of the game.
The Rangers attacked often but were bested by Fort Lewis keeper Elliot Chadderton who was able to get his hands on all five shots put on goal. Five separate Regis players put a shot on goal, while sophomore Sawyer Lincoln, freshman Ryan Ebert, and freshman Sean Ward led the Rangers in shots.
The Skyhawks outshot RU 21-11 with a shot on goal margin of 11-5. Senior goalkeeper Christian Nicolosi kept up his great play leading both teams with nine saves. Each team took four corner kicks, respectively, resulting in no goals.
The Regis University men's soccer team will return to the pitch Sunday, September 20 to host Adams State University for their second conference match of the season.
