Box Score DENVER, Colo. - The Regis University men's soccer team (3-3-0, 2-2 RMAC) rebounded from a tough loss, beating Westminster College (1-5-0, 0-4 RMAC) by a score of 4-0.
From the opening kickoff Regis had a fire in them that never seemed to burn out. The Rangers pushed the ball up the field with great pace, creating opportunities off any Westminster mistake. In the 16th minute of the first half, freshman Ben Parsons (Cape Girardeau, Missouri) opened up the scoring for RU as he carried the ball into the left side of the box blasting the ball past the WC goalkeeper.
Freshman Quinton Carey (Edmonds, Okla.) mirrored Parson's goal minutes later as he pushed the ball up the right flank, speeding past the defenders and netting the ball in the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
Leading 2-0 after halftime, Regis continued to push the work rate as they took 16 shots in the second half. Parsons perseverance in the box paid off as he collected a rebounded ball and drilled home his second goal of the game.
Senior Elliot Sutcliffe made the most of his minutes coming on to score the Rangers fourth goal of the game just seven minutes after he checked in. Freshman Ingram Coller earned the assist as he found Sutcliffe with space in front of net leading to the goal.
Senior goalkeeper Christian Nicolosi collected his second shutout of 2015 as he and the RU defense limited the Griffins to zero goals on seven shots. Regis took 26 shots in the game, putting 10 of them on goal. The Rangers took three corner kicks, while conceding four to Westminster.
The team will travel to Colorado Mines on Friday October 2 to face the Orediggers at 5 p.m. before returning home Sunday October 4 to take on Colorado Christian at 1 p.m. on the Regis Match pitch.
