Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – The Regis University Ranger women's basketball made quick work of the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks 76-67 to push their win streak to six straight. The Rangers improve to 12-8 overall and 10-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Regis registered their third highest scoring production of the season dropping 76 on the night; recording double-digit scoring in three of the four quarters. RU opened the first quarter crushing the Skyhawks 26-13. The offensive control continued into the second quarter as the Rangers held a 49-25 lead over Fort Lewis at the halftime.
RU opened the third quarter with a 7-2 run continuing to stretch their lead and by the end of quarter, the Rangers had dropped 70 points. Only six fourth quarter points from Regis allowed the Skyhawks to begin to etch away at the lead. Regis scored their last field goal at the 7:41 mark in the fourth and went through a scoreless stretch until just under a minute left.
Fort Lewis would get the RU lead to under ten, 75-67, with 40 seconds to play but the Rangers were able to hold off a final push from the Skyhawks and not allow them any closer.
Kaylie Rader recorded her seventh double-double of the season scoring 22 points and tallying 14 rebounds. Rader went 9-of-12 from the field and 4-of-6 from the line. Bay'ee Purdy chipped in with 15 and Karlyn Johnson added 13, respectively. Purdy went 6-of-11 from the field and 3-of-5 from distance and Johnson 4-of-8 from the field and 5-of-10 from the charity stripe.
The Rangers outrebounded the Skyhawks 46-32 holding their largest lead of 30 with 6:21 left in the third. Regis next travels to Adams State Saturday, January 30 at 5:30 p.m.
