Box Score LAKEWOOD, Colo. - The Rangers defeated Colorado Christian 68-63 in their first conference game of the season.
The Cougars were the first to strike dropping a jumper in the first 11 seconds.
Mary Sigler answered with a three after Colorado Christian added a second jumper to make the score 3-4.
CCU added 13 more points throughout the first quarter. The Rangers ended the first with three free throws from
Lena Jaycox to head to the second down 9-17.
Jaycox added a bucket from behind the arc to start off the second. RU mounted a comeback in the second adding 24 points to CCU's 13.
Majestie Robinson hit a three with only 12 seconds left in the half to give Regis a 33-30 lead headed to halftime.
The Cougars came out of halftime with a jumper but Robinson responded with back to back threes. The rest of the third was back and forth scoring between both teams.
RU held onto the lead ending the third up four, 49-45.
Regis outscored CCU 19-18 in the fourth.
Karlyn Johnson scored seven of the Rangers last nine points.
Robinson led all scorers with 20 points. Jaycox followed with 11 and
Kaylie Rader and Johnson added nine each.
Rader was one point away from a double-double grabbing 10 rebounds. Sigler and
Shelby Espinosa each added nine rebounds while Robinson and Jaycox both recorded a steal.
Regis travels to Golden tomorrow for a 5 pm matchup against Colorado Mines. The Rangers advance to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Â
