Dominant performance powers No. 16 Regis past Adams State University

Box Score

DENVER, Colo. – On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the No. 16 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team (9-1, 2-0 RMAC) welcomed the Adams State University Grizzlies (0-6, 0-3 RMAC) to the Regis Lacrosse Field for a conference matchup. In their most dominant performance of the season, Regis beat the ASU 20-4 to earn their second conference victory in as many days.

In the first half, the Rangers managed to score ten unanswered goals before the Grizzlies netted their first goal with 13 minutes left in the first half. RU continued their powerful offensive performance as they took a 15-2 lead into the halftime break.

ASU played a solid second half as they limited Regis to only five goals, and scoring two of their own. Although the Grizzlies were outplayed, they never gave up and they played hard until the final whistle, but it was not enough to take down the Rangers.

Senior Erin Todd and freshman Wendy Donier each netted a game-high four goals apiece, with Donier chipping in with one assist. Ten Rangers scored in the game with freshman Payton Randle picking up her first goal as a member of RU. Sophomore Stephanie Bayer, senior Hilary Duda, and juniors Erin Steiner and Anna Takushi each scored two goals apiece on the day.

Duda assumed the role of playmaker as she dished out a game-high three assists. RU kept ahold of their possessions as they only committed five turnovers in the game. The home team outshot the visitors 31-10, while also winning 11 more draw controls, and tracking down six more ground balls. Freshman Hope Correia earned her first victory of the season as she and the defense combined to hold ASU to only four goals.

The women's lacrosse team will return to action next weekend as they travel to Salt Lake City, Utah to face the Westminster College Griffins (2-5, 2-3 RMAC) on Saturday, April 9 at 1 p.m.
