Regis drops to Metro despite Robinson's 22 points, Sigler's 21

Box Score DENVER, Colo. – Despite a 22-point effort from Majestie Robinson and 21 from Mary Sigler, the Rangers lost 67-61 to Metro State. In their matchup earlier in the season Regis won, 67-62.

Robinson went 3-for-7 from three-point range and 5-for-8 from the free throw line on her way to 22 points. Sigler was 7-for-19 from the field and 5-for-13 from beyond the arc for her 21 points. Shelby Espinosa led the team in rebounds with 12. Karlyn Johnson added 11 rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal.

How It Happened: Sigler started the game off for RU draining a three in the first 12 seconds of play. Robinson added a three of her own on their next trip down the court as the Rangers jumped to a 6-2 lead.

The Roadrunners put together a late scoring streak in the first to head to the second quarter with a 17-16 lead.

Regis added 18 points in the second quarter fueled by a pair of triples from Sigler. MSU-Denver added only 16 allowing the Rangers the one point lead at half.

Metro struck first in the second half with two buckets to steal the lead, 37-34.

Robinson answered with a jumper to spark a three from Chante Church and a pair of free throws from Sigler to put the Rangers back in front, 41-37.

The Roadrunners fought back to a 46-45 lead only for Robinson to sink a triple in the final seconds of the third quarter. With ten minutes of play remaining, Regis led 48-46.

Sigler hit a three at the 9:18 mark before Metro State took a 52-51 lead with 7:36 remaining in the game. The Rangers were unable to regain the lead.

MSU-Denver scored 21 points in the fourth quarter while the Rangers only managed 13.

Game Notes: The Rangers outrebounded Metro, 43-28. Regis shot 31.1% from the field and 39.3% in three-point field goals but Metro shot 48.9% from the field and 40% beyond the arc. The Roadrunners also posted less turnovers with only seven while Regis committed 11.

Next Up For The Rangers: The loss moves Regis to 17-6 overall and 12-6 in conference play. The Rangers return home to face Chadron State Tuesday, February 14 at 5 pm.
