Box Score DENVER, Colo. – The Rangers bounced back from a two game losing streak with a 79-56 win over Chadron State. The victory moves Regis to 18-6 overall and 13-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
How It Happened: Chante Church started RU off on the right foot hitting a three just 16 seconds into the game. The rest of the first quarter was a scoring battle with Regis up 22-19 after 10 minutes.
Six different Rangers made buckets within the second quarter while Chadron only scored six points as a team.
Kaylie Rader started the scoring streak with a layup followed by another from
Karlyn Johnson plus a free throw.
Majestie Robinson claimed the next five points hitting a triple and a pair of free throws.
Mary Sigler,
Jaz'Myne Snipes and
Shelby Espinosa each managed to score before Chadron posted their first points of the quarter.
Scoring was even for the third quarter. Both teams posted 19 points bringing the score to 64-44.
Johnson scored the first seven points for the Rangers to kick off the final ten minutes of the game. Espinosa added a bucket at the 4:33 mark.
Serena Gudino nailed a triple and a jumper within the final three minutes.
McKenna Bishop made one of two free throws for the final points of the game.
Game Notes: Nine Rangers of the 11 who earned minutes scored. As a team, Regis shot 30-52 for 57.7% from the field. From behind the arc the Rangers shot 42.1% making 8-of-19. RU won the rebound battle 38 to 18. Robinson led in scoring with 15 and grabbed six rebounds. Rader added 14 and Johnson had 12. Snipes had the most boards with seven.
Next Up For The Rangers: Regis heads to Salt Lake City for their next match up on February 18. The Rangers face Westminster at 5:30 pm.
