Rangers seal regular season off with 69-53 drubbing of the Yellow Jackets

Box Score DENVER, Colo. – For the first time since 1997-98, the Regis University men's basketball team (20-8, 14-8 RMAC) finished the regular season with 20 wins. Regis coasted past the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets (9-19, 6-16 RMAC) 69-53 on Saturday night.

How It Happened: The Rangers jumped out to an early 18-0 lead holding the Yellow Jackets scoreless through the first media timeout until the 12:35 mark. Regis was hot from distance going 5-of-7 in the opening ten minutes of action.

RU remained in control of Black Hills State throughout the rest of the half as the Rangers held a 46-22 lead at the break holding the Yellow Jackets to just eight first half field-goals.

After the second media timeout of the second half, the Rangers continued to comfortably hold a 56-32 lead over Black Hills State. Regis also took care of business on the defensive end forcing the Yellow Jackets to two shot clock violations.

Black Hills State made a small run in the end to cut the RU lead to 16 by the end of regulation, but Regis was just too strong on the night, leading the game from the first bucket of the game to the last. The Rangers came out on top 69-53 when the horn finally sounded.

Game Notes: Regis remained consistent on the offensive end shooting above 50 percent from the field for the game, knocking down 9-of-25 shots from beyond the arc. Senior Noah King led the way with 15 points on 4-of-5 shooting (2-3 3-Pt), grabbing four rebounds and dishing out two assists. Sophomore Jarrett Brodbeck (14), junior Dexter Sienko (10) each scored in double-figures as junior Kevin Metoyer chipped in with nine points and a game-high seven assists. Redshirt-junior Troy Anderson II finished the night with nine points going 4-of-5 from the field.

Next Up for the Rangers: The Regis University men's basketball team have qualified for the end of the season Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Tournament, but it is unclear where they stand for the final seeds.
