Although RU forced UCCS to nine first half turnovers, the Rangers ran into problems in the paint with the size and length of the Mountain Lions. UCCS controlled 25-14 lead at the halftime.
As Regis continued to struggle on the offensive end throughout the third quarter, RU went to work on the defensive end forcing UCCS into unbalanced shots and turnovers but it would not be enough. The Rangers kept battling bringing the deficit to nine on two different occasions in the third.
The Mountain Lions remained consistent on the offensive side of the ball throughout the half as they slowly began extending the lead. The deficit had become too large for the Rangers as they move to an overall record of 23-7.
Game Notes: The Mountain Lions narrowly won the battle on the boards 43-42. Rader paced the Rangers with nine rebounds, four of which were offensive. RU forced 16 turnovers but could only convert eight points. The Rangers netted just 10 points in the paint to the Mountain Lions 24. Regis shot 16.9 (10-59) percent from the field, 16 (4-25) percent from distance and 72.2 (13-18) percent from the line. RU tied the score and held the lead once. Immediately following the game, Sigler and Rader were named to the RMAC All-Tournament Team.
