Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

RU thrashes Adams State 89-69

DENVER, Colo. – After a gut-wrenching loss to the top-ranked team in the conference on Friday, the Regis University men's basketball team (13-5, 7-5 RMAC) took out their frustrations in an 89-69 thrashing of the Adams State University Grizzlies (10-10, 8-6 RMAC) on Saturday night.

How It Happened: Regis contained the Grizzlies on offense holding them to 39 percent from the field (23-58 FG, 9-19 3-pt) for the game. On the other side, the Rangers shot very well overall and from beyond the arc. RU made 31 of their 66 shot attempts for a 47 percent mark from the field. The home squad drilled 10-of-24 shots (41.7 percent) from three-point land.

ASU never really stood a chance as Regis exploded out to a 37-point advantage, 68-31, less than four minutes into the second half. The Rangers forced 15 turnovers which turned into 18 points on the offensive end. The Grizzlies actually outscored RU 40-32 in the second half, but Regis had such a large lead in the first half that they still managed to win by 20 points, 89-69, in the end.

Game Notes: For the second straight night, senior Ty McGee led the team with 18 points, shooting a very efficient 6-of-8 from the floor, and drilling 2-of-3 shots from deep. Senior Roberto Reyes (4-5 FG, 1-1 3-pt, 1-2 FT) finished the game with 10 points four rebounds and one assist. Junior Jarrett Brodbeck (4-9 FG, 3-6 3-pt) chipped in with 11 points while senior Dexter Sienko was held to just two points on 1-of-6 shooting.

Up Next for the Rangers: The men's basketball team will head out on a four-game road-trip over the next two weekends, paying visits to New Mexico Highlands University, CSU-Pueblo, the Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Christian University.
