DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University women's basketball team (7-7, 6-3 RMAC) topped Colorado Mesa University (11-4, 5-4 RMAC) 74-67 in a double-overtime thriller on Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened: Both teams were slow out of the gate as the game remained scoreless for the first three-minutes of play. Senior

The Mavericks started the game 0-for-6 from the field and allowed freshman
Whitney Jacob to grab seven rebounds in the first five-minutes of action. With 5:26 remaining in the first-quarter, CMU knocked down 1-of-2 shots from the foul-line for their first point of the contest. The Mavericks next three buckets were all from three-point range as they took a 10-9 lead. The first-quarter ended with the Rangers trailing by one (12-11).
Sigler sank a shot from downtown but not before CMU scored a jumper to open the second-quarter. Sigler's basket knotted the score-line at 14. Senior
Majestie Robinson was awarded an and-one as she got fouled on her way to the basket. She made the layup and her free-throw to give RU their first lead of the second-quarter (17-16). Junior
Shelby Espinosa knocked-down two shots from the foul-line to give Regis a 23-20 lead going into halftime.
The Mavericks held the Rangers scoreless for three-straight minutes in the third-quarter as they went on a 7-0 run and took a 32-28 lead. Freshman
Emma Sterkel ended RU's scoring drought with a three-pointer assisted by Sigler. CMU went on to take a five-point lead, the largest of the half, with 1:23 remaining in the quarter. Robinson knocked-down a long-range shot as the buzzer sounded to give Regis a one-point advantage, 41-40.
The Mavericks lead by five, 53-48, with three-minutes remaining in the contest. Robinson kept the Rangers in striking distance scoring eight of RU's 12 fourth-quarter points. Regis then scored five-unanswered-points to tie the game at 53. CMU had a chance to win the game but the Rangers defense stood stout and forced the Mavericks to miss a tough shot. Jacob grabbed the rebound and called a time-out with .5 seconds on the clock. The inbound pass out of the timeout gave Jacob an opportunity for a tip-in but the ball bounced off the rim as time expired.
CMU scored the first-four points of the first overtime but RU responded with six-straight points to take a 59-57 advantage. Robinson went nailed two shots from the charity stripe to tie the game at 63 with 34-seconds left in the first overtime. Robinson had the last-look with a prayer from downtown but her shot was just off-target sending the game into a second overtime.
Regis scored 11-points and held the Mavericks to just four throughout the last overtime. CMU got into foul-trouble and had two players foul-out. The Rangers knocked-down seven free-throws to seal the victory 74-67
Game Notes: RU had three players score double-digits. Robinson led the group with 20, followed by Sigler with 14 and Espinosa with 12. Espinosa shot 4-for-4 from both the field and the foul-line. Regis collectively shot 34 percent from the field.
The Rangers out-rebounded the Mavericks 50-40. Jacob tied her career-high with 17 boards. She snagged six offensive and 11 defensive. Espinosa added 11 rebounds.
