Rangers secure fourth-straight sweep with 3-0 win over Griffins in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah. – On Friday evening, the Regis University volleyball team (18-8, 13-3 RMAC) continued their streak of conference sweeps with Westminster College (7-17, 5-11 RMAC) receiving the brunt of it this time.

How It Happened: It was hard to find a set in which Regis struggled in this one. The first frame featured a .345 attack percentage from the Rangers, compared to .086 for the Griffins. The largest lead of the set was 13 for RU who cruised their way to a 25-13 win.

The second set was even more impressive for Regis as they swung their way to an astronomical .480 attack percentage. At that rate, the Rangers once again punished WC on the way to a 25-14 second-set win.

Behind two dominant sets, RU had yet another strong performance in the final set of the night. One of the biggest moments in the set came right at the end when Regis, who held a 20-14 lead, rattled off five-straight points to secure the 25-14 win, and their fourth consecutive sweep.

Game Notes: Dating back to a 3-2 win over the MSU Denver Roadrunners on September 15, all 10 of the Rangers' wins have been 3-0 sweeps. Sophomore Caitlyn Burroway had a match-high 12 kills, adding nine digs on the defensive end as well. Junior Nikki Kennedy had 10 kills in the match, adding two blocks in the match. Junior Silvia Basso had a well-rounded game with 35 assists, nine digs, one block and one service ace. Junior Izzy Gosar recorded four service aces in the match, while senior Kristina Schell posted three and also registered 17 digs.

Up Next for the Rangers: The Regis University volleyball team will now head to St. George, Utah to matchup with the Trailblazers of Dixie State University. The game is set for a 4 p.m. MST start time.
