Men's basketball shut-down the Roadrunners 74-57

Box Score DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University men's basketball team (5-2, 2-0 RMAC) thumped their cross-town rival, Metropolitan State University Denver Roadrunners (1-4, 0-2 RMAC), 74-57 in front of a packed Regis Fieldhouse on Friday night.

How It Happened: The contest was started with a three-pointer on both ends of the court with the first coming from the Roadrunners. Their 3-0 lead was their largest advantage of the game. The visitors made a free-throw on their next trip down the court to go ahead 4-3. Junior Christian Little answered with two made free-throws of his own, giving Regis their first lead of the game, 5-4.

The Rangers then stomped on the gas pedal and never looked back as they led throughout the remainder of the game. RU went on a 5-0 run featuring a layup and three-pointer from senior Jarrett Brodbeck to give them an 18-9 edge with 11:08 on the first half clock.

Regis went on a 6-0 run over the span of 2:30 to claim their largest lead of the half, 27-14. The Rangers kept their lead throughout the half and went into the locker room with a 36-25 advantage.

The momentum carried into the second half, leading to 38 second half points for RU. Momentum on the offensive side of the court was coupled with sound defense to keep the Roadrunenrs from mounting any sort of comeback. MSU-Denver never got closer than eight and a couple 6-0 Regis runs stretched their lead to as many as 20.
