DENVER, Colo. – Regis women's basketball (12-10, 11-6 RMAC) fell just short against Metro State (18-7, 14-5 RMAC) losing 70-68 Saturday night.

How It Happened: The Roadrunners were first to the board scoring a layup 41 seconds into play. The Rangers responded with a
Chante Church layup to tie it up. Church made her first of four threes with 1:25 left in the first to give Regis a 12-9 lead. Metro answered with a pair of layups to steal the lead 13-12 before the Rangers snatched it back to head to the second quarter up 15-13.

The second ten minutes of play followed a similar back and forth pattern. The Roadrunners were first to score a bucket with a jumper at the 8:12 mark. Church hit a pair of free throws to tie it back up at 17. A couple free throws from
Majestie Robinson and a jumper from
Whitney Jacob allowed RU a 21-19 lead. The score was all tied up two more times in the second before Metro was able to claim a 30-27 lead headed into halftime.

After the break, the Roadrunners came out on an 11-point run before Regis stopped the bleeding with another three from Church. Metro claimed a pair of free throws before the Rangers went on a scoring run of their own. RU pieced together a seven point stretch to bring the score to 44-37. Metro closed out the half with a pair of free throws to earn a 52-43 lead with ten minutes of play remaining.

A layup from Jacob sparked an 8-0 Ranger run to kick off the fourth. The Roadrunners responded with six unanswered points. Regis fought back to be within two as Church drained another three with 40 seconds remaining. A Ranger foul put Metro at the free throw line making 1-of-2 and stretching the lead to three. A missed three pointer forced Regis to foul again and allowed the Roadrunners a 70-65 lead. Jacob sunk a three with no more time on the clock to reach the final score of 70-68.

Game Notes: Church led the offense with 18 points going 4-12 from behind the arc. Church also added two steals and was 4-4 from the charity stripe.
Shelby Espinosa pulled in 11 rebounds, four of which were offensive. Robinson dished out seven assists and added 13 points of her own.
Jaz'Myne Snipes had just six points but was 3-3 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds, five being offensive.
