Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rangers advance to RMAC Tournament Semifinals

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University men's basketball team just keeps rolling. Regis (24-5) advanced to the second-round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) with a 78-66 win over the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets (15-12) on Tuesday night.

How It Happened: For the second time in four days, the Rangers beat the Yellow Jackets by 12 points, displaying solid shooting and stingy defense. Senior Dexter Sienko set the tone for the home squad, coming out and scoring 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field in the opening half.

With a 35-27 lead at halftime, Regis looked to extend their momentum in the second half. The Rangers were able to build up to their largest lead of 16 points midway through the second half when senior Ty McGee splashed two shots from the charity stripe.

Defensively, RU never allowed BHSU to get within single-digits for the remainder of the game, earning their first RMAC Tournament win in program history (joined RMAC in 1996-97).

Game Notes: Sienko, the newly-crowned RMAC Defensive Player of the Year, flashed his offensive skills in this game scoring a game-high 27 points on 12-of-15 shooting from the field. He made three of his four free-throw attempts, grabbed six boards and tallied three assists to go along with one block and one steal. Sophomore Christian Little (7-12 FG, 4-4 FT) scored 18 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. McGee (4-8 FG, 7-8 FT) chipped in with 15 points, four rebounds, two blocks and two assists.

Up Next for the Rangers: The men's basketball team moves on to the semifinals that will be held at the home of No. 1 seed Fort Lewis College this weekend. No. 2 Regis will face No. 3 seeded Colorado School of Mines on Friday night in Durango.
