Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

RU finishes 5-1 in non-conference action as they beat ENMU 84-70

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University men's basketball team (5-1) returned to the court on Saturday night, taking down the Eastern New Mexico University Greyhounds (0-5) 84-70 in a back-and-forth dogfight.

How It Happened: Sophomore Toni Rocak, juniors Brian Dawson and Tomas Auruskevicius, and senior Christian Little combined for 58 points to help Regis in a comeback effort, defeating ENMU on Saturday night.
Trailing by four points at the halftime break, 39-35, the Rangers used a big second half to topple the Greyhounds who led for nearly 55 percent of the game. RU took a 65-64 lead on a three-point basket from redshirt-senior Taffy Tela at the 5:36 mark of the second half, and they never looked back. On the next possession, Auruskevicius nailed a three of his own and extended the lead to four points, 68-64. Another three-point shot from Tela lit up the arena as the Regis shooters caught fire.

The lead continued to grow for the Rangers as their defense suffocated the Greyhound offense down the stretch. The largest lead of the game came after Little knocked down two free throws with two second remaining in the contest. RU improved to 5-1 in non-conference play with an 84-70 win as the horn sounded.

Game Notes: After a great performance last night, Rocak followed it up with a 16-point performance this evening on 6-of-8 shooting. He had four made free throws in the game and also snagged four rebounds, adding three assists, two steals and a block. Dawson also had another great performance on the offensive end with 15 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the field. He knocked in one three-pointer and had five rebounds and three assists.

Little led all players in the game with eight rebounds, adding 14 points and three assists. Auruskevicius also had an efficient night with 13 points as he made four of his six shot attempts including three shots from beyond the arc. The team finished with a 48.3 shooting percentage, holding their opponents to 45.3 percent shooting. There were 15 lead changes in the game and the Regis bench outscored ENMU's bench 44-38.
