The Roadrunners went on to cap the scoring with an eighth insurance run in the bottom of the fifth to stunt RU's offensive production throughout the final two innings and seal the contest 8-2.
Game Notes: Maisie Mortimer picked up the loss in the top half of the doubleheader, registering one strikeouts while allowing seven earned runs.
Game Two | How It Happened: Looking to earn one win in the series, Regis came out hungry and on the attack. After two scoreless innings, the Rangers made their move, gaining a run in the third frame off a Nelson single that scored
Michelle Larose.
The next half inning saw the Roadrunners equalize then go to take a 5-1 lead thanks to two singles and a homerun.
MSU-Denver added a sixth run in the fourth before a Metro fielding miscue in the sixth frame allowed for Nelson to capitalize and come home.
Carly Beard followed it up with a single to right to bring home
Macy Cox while a double at the bat of
Allisha Martinez scored
Tori Brown to decrease the deficit to 6-4.
The Ranger defense held the host team to just one run in the bottom of the sixth and went on to record a run of their own in the next inning off a Cox dinger to left field. Regis could not overcome the two run discrepancy, however, and closed the finale in a 7-5 loss.
Game Notes: Cox finished with a game-high two runs and one RBI after going 1-for-4 at the plate. Nelson collected two hits, one run and a RBI.
