ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Regis University volleyball team (4-0) finished the Seawolf Invitational a perfect 4-0, beating all of their competition in the weekend tournament.
How It Happened:On Saturday, Regis beat Concord University (0-3) in straight sets, finishing the match with a remarkable .429 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Rachel Siurek and redshirt-freshman Hanah Kennedy each recorded eight kills through three sets.
The first set was the closest of the three with the Rangers winning 25-19. The second set was much more dominant for RU who held a hitting percentage of .471 without committing a single attacking error in 17 total attempts. The team had five separate runs of 3+ or more including an 8-0 run that saw freshman

Hannah Kennedy and Rachel Siurerk for a kill apiece. The second set score was 25-8 in favor of Regis.
The final set of the morning was a 25-12 win for the Rangers who once again asserted their dominance. At one point near the middle of the set,
Hannah Kennedy had three kills in four points with redshirt-sophomore
Rebecca Abrahamson adding a kill of her own. Match-point came on a blast from senior
Izzy Gosar, which gave RU their fourth-straight win of 2019.
Game Notes: Siurek and
Hannah Kennedy each tallied eight kills in the match, with Siurek hitting an unbelievable .800, a new career-high, without committing an error in 10 attack attempts. She also totaled three blocks in the game. Abrahamson set a career-high with six kills and also recorded a .750 hitting percentage. Freshman
Haley Kennedy was the leader with 10 digs, with senior
Silvia Basso and LeGrand splitting time as setters, collecting 18 and 17 assists respectively. The .519 hitting percentage in the opening set was the highest for Regis in the match.
Up Next for the Rangers:The Seawolf Invitational went just as planned for the Regis University volleyball team, but the season is just beginning and upon returning home, they will immediately face what could turn out to be the toughest part of their schedule in the Colorado Premier Challenge September 13 and 14. Regis will host Texas A&M University – Commerce at 2:30 p.m. on Friday followed by a match with the defending Division II Volleyball National Champion University of Tampa Spartans at 6 p.m. that evening.
