Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Rangers Conclude Non-Conference Schedule with Dominant Win

Pohs, Smith, and Stroberg register career highs

How it Happened: Freshmen Athena Saragoza registered the game's first points by sinking a triple. Shortly after, a layup from Junior Sydney Speights gave the Rangers an early 5-0 advantage. Regis never surrendered the lead, finishing the first period on top 13-9.

Behind Junior Josey Ryan's 8-point second period effort, RU only grew the lead. With 20 seconds remaining in the half, Speights drained a bucket, providing Regis with a 13-point halftime lead.

UTPB opened the third with a 6-0 run, making it 40-33. Junior Morgan L. Smith halted the comeback attempt with a layup. Rangers swiftly regained momentum, closing out the period ahead 62-43.

RU finished the game strong, igniting for 20 points in the fourth period, resulting in a commanding 82-56 victory.

Game Notes: Three Rangers registered career high in points. Freshman Megan Pohs (15), Junior Morgan L. Smith (15), and Senior Erin Stroberg (12).

Morgan L. Smith earned a 15-point 13-rebound double double.

Regis shot the ball at 51.9% from the field, 41.7% behind the arch, and 72.4% from the charity stripe.

Up Next for the Rangers: RUWB hits the road to face Colorado School of Mines on Tuesday, November 30th, at 5:30 p.m. The away contest will be the first conference game of the season.
